Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday criticised chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on ‘rain-related mismanagement’ in the state and asserted that this was his last assembly session as CM. Replying to a discussion on heavy rains and flood management in the state assembly, Fadnavis had accused critics of spreading misinformation through television, social media and hired trolls, warning that those defaming Maharashtra with false claims would not be spared. “10 years from today, those who hurl abuse won’t be around, but there will be the connecting link and the names of Devendra Fadnavis and (deputy CM) Eknath Shinde,” Fadnavis had said.“The speech delivered by Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday was full of fictional claims. He spoke about Mumbai and development, but I would like him to show us which state he has transformed in the way he claims. His body language and arrogance reflected deep frustration. I can say with confidence that this is Devendra Fadnavis’ last Assembly session as CM. After this, he may be called to the Centre and made a Union minister,” Aaditya said. The Sena (UBT) MLA said, “Yesterday, he (Fadnavis) also threatened the people of Maharashtra, saying that if they questioned the govt or spoke out on social media, action would be taken against them. I would only like to tell him this: ‘if you have indulged in corruption and taken money, you will also have to face criticism’,” Aaditya said.“The questions we are raising are not just ours; they are being asked by the people of Maharashtra, and you will have to answer them. The chair you occupy does not make you a king. You are a public servant, and you must accept that the people have the right to question you at all times. Arrogance will not help anyone…” Aaditya said.“Before CM preaches about the BMC’s fixed deposits that we created for key projects in Mumbai, he must speak about the loot in the Ram Temple by the trust his party appointed. Answer that first and then pretend to care about financial management. I also challenge him to show us one city in India that was BJP-governed and that actually progressed. Almost all cities governed by the BJP in the past decade have collapsed financially and infrastructure-wise because of the BJP’s inability to govern. It is the fixed deposits that we built over the past 2 decades that enable us to make the Coastal Road (southbound), Goregaon-Mulund Link Road and Sewage Treatment Plants without standing with a begging bowl in front of the BJP Union govt that chokes all states of funds through GST,” Aaditya said in a post on X.
