Jamshedpur: Three people, including Zila Parishad (ZP) member Suraj Mandal, were allegedly attacked by a group of anti-social elements after they objected to the alleged harassment of women kanwariyas.The victims — Suraj Mandal, Ghanshyam Mandal and Ravi Modak — were walking along with their family members to Harina Mukteshwar Dham under the jurisdiction of Kowali police station in rural Potka block.According to reports, a group of around 15 to 20 youths was allegedly harassing women devotees who were travelling with their family members and villagers to offer water at the temple. When Mandal and his associates strongly objected to the behaviour, the situation reportedly escalated.The youths allegedly attacked them with sticks, liquor bottles and stones.Three people, including Mandal, sustained multiple serious injuries in the attack.Following the incident, local residents helped shift the injured men to MGM Hospital for treatment.Deputy superintendent of police (Musaboni Range) Rohit Kumar Rajwar said that no FIR had been registered so far as the police had not received a formal complaint. However, he added that the police were aware of the incident and were looking into the matter.
