Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Monday said the Tiranga Yatra represented more than just a three-coloured flag as he led the march from J P Golambar near Gandhi Maidan to Kargil Chowk in Patna, where he paid tributes to the martyrs.Several ministers, NDA legislators and BJP functionaries, including BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi, participated in the foot march with Tricolours in their hands. Schoolchildren recited national songs and people greeted the participants en route to Kargil Chowk.Samrat said the foot march with the Tricolour in hand represented more than just a three-coloured flag. “It honours the legacy of our ancestors and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to establish democracy and hoist this Tricolour,” he said, appealing to people to participate in maximum numbers in the Tiranga Yatra, scheduled across the state till Aug 17.Samrat said Tiranga Yatras were being organised at the block, district and state levels. He recalled how, in the past, the govt had enacted laws to punish those who disrespected national songs.Saraogi said the Tiranga Yatra had now evolved into a mass movement. “The event is being celebrated with great fervour across the country, and the message of patriotism is reaching every village in Bihar,” he said.He said the campaign to hoist the Tricolour at every home and establishment and to organise Tiranga Yatras had become a movement driven by public participation across the nation, following the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Among the ministers who participated in the Tricolour procession were Leshi Singh, Dilip Jaiswal, Ram Kripal Yadav, Mithilesh Tiwari, Lakehendra Raushan and Santosh Kumar Suman.
