New Delhi: A court has dismissed the interim bail plea of Flourish Stay owner Lokesh Bajaj, accused in the June 3 Malviya Nagar hotel fire that claimed 23 lives. The court rejected Bajaj’s plea for four weeks’ bail on the ground of his deteriorating health.Principal district and sessions judge Samar Vishal said there was no material indicating any inadequacy or denial of medical treatment, and noted that Bajaj was shifted from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital when his condition worsened.Bajaj was diagnosed with intestinal obstruction and doctors advised surgery. His family sought his release to get an independent opinion from his own doctor and, if required, have him treated at a private hospital. However, the court noted that Bajaj had already “undergone the requisite surgical intervention” at RML and the procedure was “uneventful”.
