Chennai: Tamil Nadu govt issued a gazette notification declaring Trichy East constituency as vacant in the wake of chief minister C Joseph Vijay resigning the seat. Vijay who won from Trichy East as well as Perambur chose to retain the latter. He had submitted his resignation letter to former peaker M Appavu. According to the gazette notification issued by Appavu on May 10, he accepted Vijay’s resignation as per Article 190(3)(b) of the Indian Constitution and declared the seat vacant from the date of resignation.The notification would be sent to the ECI, and it will conduct election for Trichy East within six months.
