Chennai: Prohibition and excise minister K Vignesh on Thursday said that TVK govt will not cow down to pressure tactics to allow monopoly of certain liquor brands and corruption, including MRP violations in Tasmac.After releasing the list of 717 liquor shops closed in TN after TVK formed govt, the minister told reporters that the series of measures introduced in the department was to give equal opportunity to stakeholders and eradicate the monopoly. “On Monday, we are meeting Tasmac workers’ union representatives and will consider their demands to put an end to MRP violations. But if somebody tries to use pressure tactics to allow corruption, they will face consequences,” he said.In the assembly, the opposition MLAs demanded the list of 717 shops with specific details when the minister was responding to the calling attention motion moved by PMK MLA A Ganeshkumar about liquor shops still functioning within 500m of schools, temples. The minister said he would furnish all details by evening.After releasing the list, the minister said that the details of liquor shops in the vicinity of temples, schools are being collected and will be relocated, as closing them would result in overcrowding of nearby shops and cause public nuisance.
