Patna: Two minor sisters from Nalanda were rescued from a hotel in the Jakkanpur police station area on Wednesday after they were allegedly lured to Patna, police said. A youth from Nalanda was arrested during the raid and later sent to judicial custody.The action was taken as part of a crackdown on alleged sex rackets and other suspicious activities in the area. Police said the girls’ family members were informed after the rescue and reached the police station soon thereafter.According to the family, the sisters had been missing since Tuesday morning. Despite extensive searches, their whereabouts remained unknown until police traced them to the hotel. Following questioning, the girls were safely handed over to their family.Police said no objectionable material was recovered from the hotel during the search. “Investigators are now trying to ascertain why the girls were brought to Patna and whether more people were involved. They are also examining whether the incident is linked to an organised network or was an isolated case,” said a police officer.Patna Zone IG Jitendra Rana took serious note of the incident and directed officers to intensify action against such rackets operating around Patna Junction and adjoining areas. He ordered permanent deployment of police personnel at Patna Junction, Karbigahiya and other sensitive locations for enhanced monitoring.Police will also hold a joint meeting with hotel and lodge operators near Patna Junction, Karbigahiya and Mithapur Old Bus Stand. Operators will be instructed to immediately report any suspicious or unethical activities and ensure proper ID verification before allotting rooms. Officials said the drive would continue to strengthen the safety of women and minors in transit areas.
