NEW DELHI: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue across several parts of the country on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing rain alerts for large parts of northwest, central, east, northeast and peninsular India.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also expected in several regions.
IMD alert for Tuesday
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Vidarbha.Heavy rainfall is also likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, East Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, central Maharashtra, Marathwada and north interior Karnataka.Similar conditions are also expected over Bihar, coastal Karnataka, East Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana.

Delhi and adjoining areas are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, with thunderstorms and lightning also expected at isolated places. The IMD has advised people to remain alert as spells of intense rain may affect normal life.
North India forecast
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely over Uttarakhand and east Rajasthan.
East and central India
Odisha and Chhattisgarh are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while heavy rain is also expected over Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely across several parts of the region.
Northeast under rain watch
Heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected over parts of the northeast.
West and south India forecast
Konkan, Goa, Kerala, Mahe, coastal Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and central Maharashtra are likely to receive heavy rainfall.Thunderstorms with gusty winds are also forecast over north interior Karnataka, Marathwada, Telangana and parts of Andhra Pradesh.Hot and humid weather is likely to persist over coastal Andhra Pradesh.
