Dumka: A 61-year-old woman was killed while her husband and son were critically injured after they were allegedly attacked by relatives over a long-standing land dispute in Jamtara district on Wednesday.The deceased was identified as Savitri Devi, a resident of Charki village. Her husband, Amrit Poddar, 68, and son, Pradeep, 34, were referred to Dhanbad for treatment.According to police, the incident occurred when Savitri was on her way to deliver tea to her younger son, Kaushik, who was working in the family’s agricultural field.She was allegedly intercepted by members of the extended family, following which an argument broke out. Police said Savitri sustained multiple head injuries after being assaulted with a sharp weapon. When her husband and son tried to intervene, they were also brutally assaulted.“The incident was the result of a long-standing land dispute between close relatives. One suspect has been detained, and efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused,” SDPO Wasim Raja said.
