Hazaribag: An 18-month-old boy died on Sunday evening after receiving treatment at a private facility in Chatra district, prompting his family to stage a protest and allege medical negligence.The deceased, Vivaan Kumar, was the son of Birju Ravidas of Pandni panchayat. After his death, family members placed the body on the Karma-Pachmo road near the facility and accused its operator and a private practitioner of administering incorrect treatment.Ravidas said the child had been suffering from cold, cough and fever and was taken to the facility for treatment. After returning home, Vivaan was given a biscuit and the prescribed medicine, following which his condition deteriorated, he said.The family rushed the child back to the facility and later took him to Hazaribag, where doctors declared him dead.The facility operator denied the allegations, claiming that the child had died after falling into a flowerpot filled with water.Mayurhand police station officer in-charge Rahul Dubey said, “We have begun a probe. If the hospital is found guilty, action will be taken against those responsible.”
