Patna: A two-year-old boy died after being hit by an SUV under Jakkanpur police station area of Patna on Wednesday night, while the driver of the vehicle was later found hanging inside a locked guard room under mysterious circumstances.The deceased child was identified as Kavyansh Raj, son of Manjit Kumar, a junior engineer in the electricity department. The accident occurred around 8.10pm near KTPS Colony along Gaya Gumti Line in Karbigahiya, where Kavyansh was playing with other children on an apartment campus. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.According to police, the SUV driver, identified as Anurag Raj (28), a resident of the Beur police station area, was caught by local residents after the accident and locked inside a nearby guard room.After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and found the guard room locked from outside. When officers broke open the lock, they found Anurag hanging from a window using a gamcha (cotton towel) as a noose. He was taken to hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.Patna Sadar-II SDPO Ranjan Kumar said police have registered a case and are awaiting a formal complaint from the child’s family for further legal action. Anurag’s wife, Sneha, has submitted an application alleging the involvement of Ashok Kumar Sinha, an SDO in the electricity department, under whom the deceased was employed as a driver, he said.“An FSL team visited the spot and collected evidence. All aspects of the case, including the circumstances leading to the driver’s death, are being investigated and further action will be taken based on the findings,” the police officer said.
