Bokaro: Police on Friday carried out a vehicle checking drive and penalised 29 autos for flouting traffic rules and failing to produce necessary documents, officials said.The drive was carried out after receiving complaints over unruly parking, traffic obstruction and reckless driving by auto drivers. As many as 150 autos and e-rickshaws were inspected during the drive, SP Nathu Singh Meena said.The drive was conducted under the supervision of traffic DSP Ajay Prasad along with his team. During the inspection, officials checked driving licences, vehicle registration papers, permits, fitness certificates and other mandatory documents to ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act.“Police found 29 autos violating various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, including document-related lapses and other traffic rule violations. A total penalty of Rs 76,500 was imposed on the offenders,” Prasad said.Besides taking punitive action, the police also interacted with the drivers to sensitise them on proper parking, deter them from overloading and adhering to traffic signals. “Similar enforcement campaigns would continue in the coming days,” the DSP added.
