Patna: Nine police personnel, including a station house officer (SHO), an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), two constables and four chowkidars, were suspended in Vaishali district on Sunday following allegations of links between some policemen and individuals allegedly involved in the dry-drug trade.Those suspended are Mahnar SHO Vedanand Singh, the officer in charge of Dial-112, ASI Rajesh Kumar, constables Rajiv Kumar and Nisha Kumari, and chowkidars Roshan Kumar, Rajan Paswan, Raghunath Kushwaha and Putlesh Kumar. All were posted at Mahnar police station.The action follows allegations that certain police personnel had connections with people associated with the illegal drug trade operating in the Mahnar area.The simultaneous suspension of personnel across different ranks has triggered a stir within the district police force. However, authorities have not yet disclosed details of the allegations, evidence against the suspended personnel, or findings of the departmental inquiry.Confirming the action, Vaishali Rural SP Sonu Kumar Rai said further investigation would determine the individual roles of the suspended personnel and the nature of their alleged links with the dry-drug trade.
