Dhanbad: A man allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp blade while she was at work in Bhuli OP area of Dhanbad on Sunday morning. While the woman sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH), the man is absconding. Doctors said her condition is critical.According to police, the injured woman, identified as Mehdi Khatun, a resident of Chauthaikulhi in Jharia, and her husband, Shahzad alias Khairu, worked as cooks at Al-Habibi Marriage Hall in Pandarpalla New Islampur area. Family members and local residents said that the husband often assaulted his wife.On Sunday morning, when Mehdi was working, her husband allegedly suddenly attacked her with a sharp blade and fled.Bhuli OP in-charge Vishwajit Thakur said the couple is from Bokaro district and was residing in Jharia for work. “Search is on for the accused. He will be arrested soon,” he said.
