Dumka: A day after a 40-year-old woman and her minor son were murdered in their sleep in Deoghar district, the police on Thursday solved the case by arresting the deceased’s daughter-in-law and her alleged lover.Rubeda Bibi, and her 14-year-old son Musarraf Ansari were found dead in their house at Heth Nawadih village under Sonaraithari police station limits on Tuesday morning. Both were fatally assaulted with an axe and a hammer while they were asleep.Deoghar sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Kuldeep Kumar said that police have arrested Shabana Khatoon, the elder son of Rubeda’s husband Shahil Ahmed, and her alleged lover Irshad Ansari, 19. Irshad is a resident of Paro village under Palajori police station limits. “The murder weapons and other crucial evidence were recovered on their disclosures,” he said. Shabana and Shahil got married three months ago.Police said Shabana was in an affair with Irshad before her marriage. Recently, she rekindled her relationship since Shahil left to work in West Bengal. Shabana allegedly hatched the murder plot after Rubeda and Musharraf opposed her relationship with Irshad.On the night of June 30, Shabana landed the fatal blows on Rubeda and Musharraf while Irshad guided her through a video call. She then tried to project the crime as a robbery attempt or attack by unknown assailants. SDPO said it is being ascertained whether anyone else was involved in the plot.Rubeda’s husband was killed over a land dispute in 2022. Initially, investigators presumed that the murders were plotted by the convicts in the case, who are currently out on bail.
