Hazaribag farmer electrocuted by live wire in field

Hazaribag: A 33-year-old farmer was electrocuted after coming in contact with a live wire at Bonga village in Hazaribag district on Friday, police said. The deceased was identified as Santosh Kumar.According to villagers, Santosh wentto inspect his agricultural field along with his wife, Anu Devi, when he accidentally came in contact withthe wire and died on the spot.His wife raised an alarm, following which resident Binod Mehta rushed to the spot and helped bring him home. He was later rushed to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH) in Hazaribag, where doctors declared him dead. Sources said the live wire was connected to a motor pump on his field, which was left unattended.The couple has three children — Siddhant Kumar, 8, Saurabh Kumar, 6, and Rakhi Kumari, 4 — locals said .Ichak police station officer in-charge Gautam Kumar said after postmortem examination, the body was handed over to family members for the last rites.
