Jamshedpur: An accused in the Jamshedpur bar murder case, Rahul Dubey, 32, surrendered at Bistupur police station on Friday.Dubey, a resident of Sonari, arrived around 1 pm at the police station. Sources said the police crackdown and fear of an encounter prompted his surrender.Following the surrender, SP (city) Lalit Meena said the police have adopted a tough stance against crime and that criminals and anti-social elements must realise they cannot escape the law after committing offences.Deputy SP (composite crime control room), Manoj Thakur, said Dubey’s interrogation was under way. He was yet to be sent to judicial custody till the filing of this report.Police have so far arrested 12 accused in the murder of Himanshu Singh, 30, including the bar operator Neeraj Singh. All have been sent to judicial custody.On Wednesday, prime accused Bishwanath Mandal alias Bodra, who carried a reward of ₹2 lakh, surrendered before the court of the chief judicial magistrate (CJM).Police said Dubey had three criminal cases registered against him, including one under the Arms Act, and is allegedly associated with the Ravidas gang.Investigators found that Dubey was present at the bar with his associates on June 27, when Himanshu and his friend Pratyush Anand Singh were attacked with sharp weapons outside the Bistupur establishment. Himanshu succumbed to his injuries in hospital, while Pratyush is undergoing treatment in Kolkata.
