Vishvendu JaipuriarHazaribag: Burglars broke into a house in New Colony under Barhi block by removing a window grille and decamped with jewellery worth around Rs 10 lakh and Rs 4,000 in cash in the early hours of Friday, police said.The house belongs to Devendra Singh. The family discovered the theft after waking up to find rooms ransacked. Three broken suitcases were found outside the house, while the locks of an almirah, a locker and storage boxes had been broken open.In his complaint to Barhi police, Singh said the stolen valuables included gold chains, earrings, rings, mangalsutras, nose pins, bangles and silver anklets. A substantial portion of the jewellery had been purchased for his daughter’s ring ceremony held on June 29.Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. No arrests had been made till the filing of the report.
