Another accused in Jamshedpur bar murder case sent to judicial custody

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum police on Saturday sent Rahul Dubey, an accused in the murder of Karni Sena functionary Himanshu Singh, to judicial custody. Dubey, 30, surrendered before the police a day earlier. A chopper, which was used to fatally stab Himanshu, was also recovered based on Dubey’s statement, police said.“Dubey was a named accused in the June 27 murder case and was absconding since the incident,” SP (City) Lalit Meena said. Thirteen people, including Dubey, prime accused Vishwanath Mandal alias Bodra and Neeraj Singh, the owner of DD Bar in Bistupur, have been placed in judicial custody so far in the case. Raids are underway to arrest Raghvendra alias Veeran, a Kadma resident and the only accused evading arrest since the incident.“Investigation, raids and interrogation are being carried out simultaneously. As new facts emerge with each arrest, the special investigation team is connecting the links to uncover the real motive behind the incident,” Meena said.Meena said Dubey has two cases registered against him under the Arms Act and for extortion. He was present at the bar with associates on the day of the attack.Himanshu and his friend, Pratyush Anand Singh, were attacked with a chopper and knives outside DD Bar on the night of June 27. While Himanshu died of his injuries two days later, Pratyush is undergoing treatment in Kolkata. The duo was allegedly attacked in the presence of police personnel.
