Rims launches e-Sushrut app for online OPD booking, e-Prescriptions

Ranchi: Patients at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) can now book doctors’ appointments online, access lab reports and receive e-prescriptions through the e-Sushrut Jharkhand hospital management system, inaugurated by health minister Irfan Ansari on Wednesday.The mobile application will allow patients visiting the premier healthcare facility to register using their mobile numbers, create digital health accounts and access services through smartphones.Rims public relations officer Dr Shishir Kumar said the initiative aims to reduce long queues at the hospital and ensure prompt, quality treatment.“Patients can now consult the doctors at OPDs booking appointments from their homes, and pay the OPD fee of Rs 10 online. After consultation they will get e-prescriptions at the e-Sushrut app,” the PRO added.With the launch, Rims became the first govt healthcare facility in Jharkhand to offer digital healthcare services, health department additional chief secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh said.“Chief minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the Mukhyamantri Digital Health Yojana last year approving around Rs 300 crore for the scheme to modernise the state’s healthcare system and make services more accessible, efficient by integrating advanced digital technology. Rims becomes the first govt hospital to have digital health care system under the scheme,” Singh said.Ansari also launched a digital mammography unit, central laboratory, BSNL-managed Wi-Fi and CCTV-based Command and Control Room, and an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Operation Theatre. He handed appointment letters to 15 newly appointed associate professors.Congratulating them, Ansari said their expertise and enthusiasm would improve medical education and patient care. He also announced that advertisements for recruiting 94 assistant professors would be issued shortly to strengthen Rims’ academic and healthcare capabilities.
