Jamshedpur: Police arrested a Bihar-based drug trafficker and seized 33 kg of cannabis worth around Rs 16 lakh from his possession near the interstate bus terminus.The accused was transporting the contraband from Odisha to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh when he was intercepted near the Mango bus stand following a tip-off, it police said.SP (City) Lalit Meena said the police received specific information on Sunday that a man carrying a large quantity of cannabis was waiting near the toilet adjacent to Gate No. 5 of the bus stand. Acting swiftly, a special team, led by Sitaramdera police station officer-in charge Anand Kumar Mishra, conducted a raid and arrested him.Police are examining his call detail records (CDR) and other technical evidence to trace the source of the contraband and identify intended recipients. “After an FIR, he was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody,” said the SP.
