Ranchi: Around 125 police personnel would be deployed daily at 45 locations in and around Pahari Mandir , with another 200 personnel to be deputed on Sundays and Mondays to manage the surge in devotees.The district administration has put in place elaborate security and crowd-management arrangements at the temple and along the Subernarekha river, where lakhs of devotees are expected to congregate during the holy month of Shravan.Deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said a joint order has been issued for deployment of an adequate number of police personnel and magistrates at both locations to maintain law and order and ensure smooth movement of devotees.According to the deployment plan, police will be stationed around the temple premises and surrounding areas for crowd regulation and security. At sensitive points such as the temple’s main entrance, exit gate and the garbha griha atop the hill, personnel will be deployed in three shifts to maintain round-the-clock vigilance.Security have also been directed to keep watch on anti-social elements and promptly deal with incidents such as eve-teasing, pickpocketing, chain-snatching and other petty crimes during the fair.To strengthen security on peak days, more than 200 additional personnel will be deployed on Sundays and Mondays, when footfall is expected to rise sharply. The traffic wing will simultaneously implement vehicle diversions and regulate movement on roads adjoining the temple to prevent congestion.A quick reaction team equipped with anti-riot gear, including a Vajra vehicle, water cannons, tear-gas units and fire-fighting equipment, will remain on standby to respond to any emergency.Officials said the deployment plan will come into effect from Sunday and remain operational throughout the Shravan month.
