Patna: The RJD on Thursday dissolved all its organisational units across Bihar with immediate effect following the party’s disastrous performance in the recently concluded Bankipur byelection, where its candidate finished a distant third.The decision was announced through an order issued by state party president Mangni Lal Mandal in consultation with the RJD’s national working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. The order said all organisational committees at the district, block and panchayat levels, along with units of the party’s various cells and affiliated organisations across Bihar, stand dissolved with immediate effect. It added that new committees would be constituted soon.The move comes three days after the Bankipur bypoll results, in which the RJD’s nominee, Rekha Gupta, not only finished a poor third but also forfeited her security deposit. In the 2025 assembly election, she had secured more than 46,000 votes, finishing behind eventual winner Nitin Nabin, who had polled around 98,000 votes.Party sources said the decision also follows growing internal dissent and factionalism at different organisational levels, which had increasingly spilled into the public domain.Meanwhile, Tejashwi, accompanied by senior party netas and MLCs Abdul Bari Siddiqui and Sunil Kumar Singh, handed over a cheque for Rs 5 lakh to the school-going daughter of Bunty Yadav, who was recently murdered allegedly for repeatedly protesting against an organised sex racket operating in the Karbigahiya locality, an institutional hub in the state capital.
