Prohibitory orders imposed in Chatra village after lynching of rape accused

Hazaribag: Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been imposed in a Chatra village following the lynching of a man accused in a child sexual assault case.SDO Pradeep Kumar Mahto issued the order late Friday evening to maintain peace and public order. The restrictions, effective from Friday in residential areas and on roads, will remain in force until further orders.The order prohibits gatherings of five or more persons, meetings, rallies, public assemblies and the use of loudspeakers. Carrying licensed firearms, displaying weapons and making attempts to inflame communal tensions have also been banned.The administration warned of legal action against those spreading false or misleading information on social media or through other channels.Patients travelling to hospitals, students attending educational institutions, and govt employees and police personnel on duty are exempt from the restrictions. The SDO said the order was issued ex parte because serving individual notices was not practicable.Tension erupted after a 22-year-old man accused of abducting and raping a 13-year-old girl was allegedly beaten to death by a group on Aug 4.
