Bokaro: Officer-in charge of Chas Mufassil police station, Prakash Mandal, sustained a head injury during a dispute with a group of Kanwariyas over a road jam late Sunday night. He was rushed to KM Memorial Hospital in Chas, where doctors treated the wound and applied stitches, officials said on Monday.According to Chas ASP Vedant Shanker, the Kanwariyas were travelling to Chirka Dham after collecting water from Damodar River. A truck carrying a DJ system remained stationary at one spot for a considerable time, causing a traffic jam.Mandal reached the spot and tried to persuade the Kanwariyas to clear the road. An argument followed and soon escalated into a physical altercation.The ASP said, “A youth punched the officer with an iron bangle he was wearing, causing the head injury.” Police have detained him, and further investigation is underway.
