Chennai: Hours after a 34-year-old son of a rice mill owner was kidnapped for ransom from Sirukaveripakkam in Kancheepuram district on Tuesday night, police rescued him from Tiruvannamalai. Four of the five persons involved in the crime were arrested. According to police, Surendar, son of Ravi, was travelling on his two-wheeler near Pachaiyamman Koil when the accused abducted him in a car. Within an hour, his father received a call from Surendar’s number, and an unknown person demanded a ransom of ₹10 lakh. Special teams were formed, and technical surveillance was used to track the victim. The signal led police towards Tiruvannamalai district. A team near Cheyyar was diverted to the location, and Surendar was rescued. Four accused — Tamilmani, 22, Tamil Prabhakaran, 17, Santhanakrishnan, 34, and Rahul, 23 — were arrested.
