Dumka: Baba Baidyanath Dham temple in Deoghar has fetched Rs 3.31 crore in revenue from Sheeghra Darshan (a fast-track entry pass) of devotees in the first fortnight of the ongoing Shravani Mela, officials said.Deoghar deputy commissioner (DC) Saurabh Kumar Bhuwania on Thursday said 28.33 lakh devotees offered prayers in the ongoing month of Shravan. Of them, 92,134 kanwariyas availed the Sheeghra Darshan service to offer prayers to the deity. Each Sheeghra Darshan coupon is priced at Rs 600 this year.“The facility has generated about Rs 3.31 crore for the temple treasury,“ he said.Notably, a separate queue for Sheeghra Darshan was introduced from the first day of Shravan this year. The arrangement, officials said, helped kanwariyas in cutting down waiting time at the queues and offer prayers in an organised manner. On a day, over 16,000 devotees used the facility, up from 7,000 in 2024. In 2025, over 1.68 lakh kanwariyas availed the Sheeghra Darshan facility.Shravani Mela began on Jul 30 and will commence on Aug 28.“If the trend continues, the figure might reach 1.75 lakh during the month-long mela. Revenue is expected to reach around Rs 5.5 crore,” Bhuwania said.Eighteen donation boxes were set up on the temple premises on Aug 6 under the supervision of district administration. Counting revealed donations over Rs 23.74 lakh, 8,955 Nepalese currency notes, 31 Bhutanese currency notes, 1,500 Guyanese dollars, 50 UAE dirhams and 100 Thai baht.Officials expect daily footfall to rise in the next two weeks.
