Ranchi: Blending the spirit of Independence Day with their agitation for recruitment reforms, JPSC-JSSC aspirants will take out a ‘Tiranga Padyatra’ (tricolour march) in the city on Saturday to press for the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL 2024 examination and a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in recruitment tests. The march will begin at 10 am from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium and pass through Kutchery Chowk, Circular Road, Lalpur and Albert Ekka Chowk before returning to the stadium. Organisers said it would be conducted peacefully and cover several major intersections.Aspirants have been protesting for nearly three weeks, braving incessant rain and staying in makeshift shelters. Around 20,000 students from across the state are expected to participate in Saturday’s march, organiser Jairaj Jaiswal claimed.“Many aspirants returned to their native places after the Aug 10 Vidhan Sabha march because of space constraints at the protest site and inadequate food supplies. We have appealed to them to return for the Tiranga march. We will hoist the national flag in the morning before beginning the march,” said Jaiswal, a Bokaro resident who has been preparing for competitive examinations for seven years.Protesters said their agitation would continue until their demands, including greater transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), were addressed.“While the country celebrates Independence Day, we are spending our days and nights under makeshift shelters, battling rain and uncertainty. We are only demanding a transparent and fair recruitment system that gives every aspirant an equal opportunity to fulfil their dreams,” said Sabita Kumari, one of those on hunger strike.“This Independence Day, I dream of an India where paper leaks and examination irregularities no longer ruin the future of lakhs of aspirants. We will continue our fight to ensure that JPSC and JSSC are reformed and made more accountable and transparent,” she added.
