Daltonganj: Mohammadganj police in Palamu cracked two murder cases—one from January 2026 and another from the 2025 winter festival—arresting six accused, police said on Tuesday.Hussainabad SDPO Divyansh Shukla said, “Mutur Mushar(60) of Mohammadganj police station limits was kidnapped and murdered on Makar Sankranti mela in 2026 in Bihar’s Sasaram district. Mutur was allegedly killed and buried near the Sone river in Sasaram. His family lodged an FIR on August 10 against four named accused Dinesh, Vikas, Gobind and Shrawan. They were arrested. Based on their confessions, Jharkhand police recovered skeletons from the Sone riverbank.”Interrogation of Dinesh opened the 2025 case. His son Nandan had been gagged to death and thrown into the Koyel river. The body was never found. Suspecting Mutur to be behind the murder, Dinesh and three others allegedly killed him in revenge during the Makar Sankranti mela this January, the SDPO added.Dinesh named Santosh, Dharmender, and Nandu, all in their thirties, in Nandan’s murder case. Santosh and Dharmendra were arrested on August 17 while hunt is under way for Nandu, police added.Shukla said, “Mutur was murdered in Bihar and buried there. Skeletons retrieved by Jharkhand police this August month.”
