Ranchi: Leader of opposition Babulal Marandi on Tuesday urged protesting students to persist with their demand for a CBI probe into alleged recruitment irregularities, saying state govt’s decision to scrap the JSSC CGL and other “tainted” examinations would not ensure justice without an independent investigation.Speaking to reporters, Marandi alleged that the cabinet’s decision was intended to defuse the agitation rather than uncover the truth. “A CBI investigation is another key demand of the students. Cancelling the examinations is not the solution,” he said.Questioning state govt’s reluctance to refer the matter to the CBI, Marandi criticised the CID probe and alleged that it had failed to address crucial concerns raised by the protesters. He said scrapping the examinations could invite legal challenges from selected candidates, leading to prolonged litigation and further delays in recruitment. Such a situation, he claimed, could benefit those who had secured jobs through unfair means while leaving genuine aspirants in limbo. The former CM also questioned why no action had been taken against officials linked to recruitment bodies despite repeated allegations of irregularities.Hitting back at Marandi, Congress general secretary Alok Kumar Dubey said, “The govt has taken the decision in the interest of youths and students. As far as CBI investigation is concerned, the entire country has witnessed the questions raised from time to time over the autonomy of the agency and its misuse by the central govt.”
