Gopalganj court frames charges against MLA in firing case

Patna: In a major development in a seven-year-old firing case, the special MP-MLA court in Gopalganj on Thursday framed charges against Kuchaikote MLA Amarendra Kumar Pandey alias Pappu Pandey, his elder brother Satish Pandey and nephew Mukesh Pandey, a former zila parishad chairman.District and Sessions Judge-III-cum-Special MP-MLA Court judge Rajendra Kumar Pandey framed charges under relevant sections related to attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy. The three accused will now face trial.The case stems from an FIR lodged at Mirganj police station in 2019 by Phoolmti Kunwar, wife of late Vashishth Tiwari and a resident of Nayagaon Tulsia Singha Tola in the Mirganj area.According to the FIR, the accused allegedly opened indiscriminate fire with the intention of killing her son, Abhimanyu Tiwari.Given the involvement of a sitting MLA, the matter is being heard by the special MP-MLA court.
