Jamshedpur: The West Singhbhum district administration has launched an infrastructure upgrade drive under Project Pran to improve basic amenities in govt schools and anganwadi centres in rural areas.The initiative focuses on strengthening essential infrastructure, beautification, cleanliness and sanitation at educational institutions, anganwadi centres and panchayat secretariats. Works such as laying paver blocks, constructing hand-washing units and undertaking regular cleanliness drives are being carried out with funds from the 15th Finance Commission.Deputy commissioner Manish Kumar said, “The initiative aims to make these facilities cleaner, safer, more functional and accessible, while creating a better environment for students, children and rural residents.”Officials said the project is expected to address recurring issues such as waterlogging and mud accumulation on school and anganwadi premises, particularly during the monsoon, making movement easier for children.At anganwadi centres, efforts are being made to create child-friendly spaces that support nutrition, early development and learning activities. Officials said a welcoming environment would encourage better participation and regular attendance among children.Panchayat secretariats, which serve as key centres for grassroots administration and public service delivery, are also being upgraded. Paver blocks are being laid in movement and access areas to improve accessibility and enhance the appearance of the premises.
