Patna: More than 6,600 students have applied for admission to undergraduate vocational courses at Patliputra University (PPU) for the 2026-29 academic session, with Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) emerging as the most sought-after programme.“Among the courses, BCA has attracted the highest number of applicants, with 3,771 candidates seeking admission, followed by Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), which has received 2,085 applications,” said PPU dean of students’ welfare Rajeev Ranjan.Other sought-after programmes include BSc Biotechnology, which received 544 applications, and BSc Information Technology (IT), with 175 applicants. Several candidates have also applied for other vocational courses offered by the university and its constituent and affiliated colleges.PPU registrar Abu Bakar said online applications for admission to UG vocational courses were accepted till Aug 14. He said the admission process would begin shortly, while the schedule for counselling, merit list publication and related formalities would be announced soon in accordance with the prescribed admission criteria.The vocational programmes are aimed at equipping students with professional skills and improving their career prospects in emerging sectors. University authorities have directed colleges to complete the admission process within the stipulated time so that classes can commence on schedule next month.According to sources, the university has also asked vocational course coordinators to strengthen placement cells in their respective colleges to enhance employment opportunities for students after completing their courses.
