Dumka: Saraiyahat police station officer-in-charge Rajendra Yadav was suspended for allegedly delaying the registration of an FIR in the suspected mob lynching of an 11-year-old boy.The boy was allegedly assaulted and strangled on July 21 after villagers suspected him of stealing a motorcycle. His father, Vinod Mahto, lodged a complaint the next day, but the FIR was registered only on July 30. The boy’s body was later found in bushes.In an order dated Aug 25, which came to light on Thursday, SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar described Yadav’s conduct as negligent and arbitrary. The order also noted that the date “30.07.2026” had been overwritten at two places in the police records, raising questions about when the complaint was received and when the FIR was registered.Jarmundi SDPO Nawal Kishore Singh said the suspension followed a complaint by the boy’s father. The SP had ordered an inquiry by the Hansdiha circle police inspector, who reportedly found the allegations to be true. The accused named in the case was arrested after the FIR was registered.During his suspension, Yadav will remain attached to Dumka police headquarters and receive a subsistence allowance as per service rules.
