Bokaro: The district administration’s swift response to a social media appeal has helped save the life of a 15-year-old girl from a poor family in Dhori Basti of Phusro recently. Khushi Kumari, a Class 9 student and the daughter of a daily-wage labourer, was provided financial assistance to undergo a heart surgery in Kochi for plugging a 6 mm hole in heart.Khushi was diagnosed with the hole in heart, but her father Anil Kumar could not afford her treatment. Her plight was highlighted on a post on X. Soon, the district administration swung into action after deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha directed officials to arrange medical assistance.Acting on the DC’s instructions, the civil surgeon and Phusro Municipal Council facilitated her treatment at Amrita Hospital in Kochi, where doctors successfully performed the surgery on Aug 21.After post-operative care, Khushi returned home in stable condition. “I am healthy now and grateful to the DC, civil surgeon and doctors who saved my life,” she said on Saturday after meeting with DC with her father to thank the administration.
