Dhanbad: A social media post helped reunite a family in Dhanbad district’s Govindpur with its breadwinner, nearly 20 days after the 48-year-old migrant worker went missing during his journey home from Tamil Nadu.Sukar Turi, a resident of Machamahul village, had travelled to Salem in search of work. On Aug 9, he began his return journey with a group of fellow workers but was separated from them in Vijayawada. Stranded in an unfamiliar city without money or a means to contact his family, Turi was unable to continue his journey.As days passed without any contact, his family grew anxious. His son, Guddu Turi, posted photographs and videos of his father on Instagram and appealed for help in tracing him.The post caught the attention of Amrit Pandey, a Ranchi resident working in Vijayawada. Pandey later spotted Turi wandering on a street and recognised him from the photographs. He contacted Guddu and arranged a video call between the father and son, bringing relief to the family.Local leader Ataullah Ansari also stepped in to help arrange Turi’s return to Jharkhand.Turi finally reached Machamahul on Saturday night, where he received an emotional welcome from his family and fellow villagers. Music and traditional celebrations marked his return after nearly three weeks of uncertainty.Turi said he had survived by taking up odd jobs at roadside eateries near Vijayawada railway station in exchange for food.
