Ranchi: Reviewing the works of state urban development and housing department on Wednesday, chief minister Hemant Soren asked officials to ensure drainage systems were inseparable part of road construction projects. He also asked officials to set up vendor markets in every wards to ensure vendors are given organised spaces, and their livelihoods are not affected.Chairing the meeting at Project Bhawan, Soren said, “Roads must be designed with proper water drainage, pedestrian facilities and space for future expansion to prevent waterlogging and traffic disruptions.” He directed officials to ensure quality execution and timely completion of all schemes.Emphasising on the need to develop vendor markets in every urban ward, he said, “Planned vending zones would help reduce congestion and improve city management.”Soren also asked the officers to prepare a comprehensive database of city buses, including routes and schedules to improve public transport and streamline traffic flow. He also asked for the closure of unnecessary road cuts that hinder traffic flow and compromise safety.Soren asked officials to identify and organise hanging electricity and telecom cables and remove encroachments on govt land. Stressing that development should extend beyond Ranchi, CM said other cities in Jharkhand must also be developed through scientific planning, modern infrastructure and citizen-centric urban services.
