Bettiah: A joint team of Bihar and Telangana Police arrested four men from West Champaran district in connection with an attempted murder case registered at Nacharam police station in Telangana and seized a pistol, magazines and live cartridges from their possession.The arrests were made during raids conducted in Bagaha on Wednesday night after Telangana Police traced the suspects to the district during the course of the investigation.Bagaha SP Rajesh Kumar said a special investigation team (SIT), led by Bagaha SDPO Nihar Bhushan, was constituted after an inspector from Nacharam police station arrived in Bagaha seeking assistance in the case.Acting on a tip-off, the team arrested Ashish Kumar of Bargaon and Sandeep Mahajan, Sandeep Kumar and Shashi Kumar of Chautarwa. Police recovered a 7.65mm pistol, three magazines and 20 live cartridges during searches.According to police, the accused had allegedly accepted a contract to kill a man in the Nacharam police station area. They allegedly opened fire when the target stopped at a roadside shop, but the weapon misfired, allowing him to escape unhurt. An FIR was subsequently lodged at Nacharam police station.The investigation reportedly linked the suspects to West Champaran through technical surveillance and CCTV footage, following which Telangana Police coordinated with Bagaha Police.SP Kumar said three of the accused were handed over to Telangana Police on transit remand after completion of legal formalities, while Ashish Kumar was sent to Bagaha jail in judicial custody under local legal procedures. Further investigation is underway in the case, registered at Nacharam police station.
