15 awareness vehicles flagged off to promote National Lok Adalat

Patna: To create awareness about the National Lok Adalat scheduled for Sept 12, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Patna, on Thursday flagged off 15 awareness chariots that will travel across the district. The vehicles were flagged off by principal district and sessions judge-cum-DLSA chairperson Anamika T and DLSA secretary Jyoti Chandan.Anamika said Lok Adalat provides a simple, speedy and cost-effective platform for resolving disputes through mutual consent and conciliation. She said no court fee is charged for cases settled through Lok Adalat, helping litigants save both time and money. Since its awards cannot be challenged in appeal, the forum offers an effective mechanism for dispute resolution, she added.The National Lok Adalat will be held at Patna Civil Court and subdivisional courts in Patna City, Danapur, Barh, Masaurhi and Paliganj. Cases related to compoundable offences, cheque bounce matters under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, matrimonial and family disputes, motor accident claims, civil and labour disputes, bank loan recovery and other settlement-based matters will be taken up.A special camp will also be organised near Gates 5 and 6 of Gandhi Maidan for disposal of traffic challans pending for more than three months.Anamika appealed to people to participate in large numbers and avail themselves of speedy and free settlement of eligible disputes.
