Security beefed up at Latehar civil court after courtroom commotion over POCSO bail order

Daltonganj: Security has been further beefed up at the civil court in Latehar district following a commotion inside a courtroom during proceedings on Sept 1, sources said on Thursday. Additional police personnel have been deployed and vigilance around courtrooms has been enhanced to prevent any recurrence in future. The move comes after three women and a minor boy allegedly created a ruckus inside the courtroom of the additional district and sessions judge-II during court hours. According to Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav, the group was upset over the grant of bail to an accused in a POCSO case.“Three women along with a minor boy looked discontented with the court order and created scenes at the court of the additional district and sessions judge-II late Sept 1 afternoon,” the SP said.He added that the women allegedly shouted loudly and “elbowed and jostled with the police bodyguard” of the judge. “One of them tried to tear off her clothes, while another hurled abuses at the judiciary. The third was making a video clip of the incident,” Gaurav said. The SP said the group had entered the court premises after informing security personnel that they had a scheduled court appearance and were allowed entry following frisking by women police personnel.Based on a written complaint by the judge’s bodyguard, Latehar police registered a case. “All the four were let off on PR (personal recognizance) bond,” the SP said. The identities of those involved have been withheld as the matter is linked to a POCSO case.
