Bokaro: The decomposed body of a 16-year-old boy, who was allegedly murdered, dismembered and buried in a pit behind a house at Paharpur village in Giridih district, was recovered on Friday.Police identified the victim as Mithun Kumar Das alias Karu Das, a resident of Moriyadih under Bichkordwa police station limits in neighbouring Bihar.Police said the case came to light after a severed human leg was found during a search operation launched to trace the missing teenager. Acting on information, Giridih SP directed a team led by SDPO Jeetwahan Oraon, inspector Bambam Kumar and Bengabad police station officer in-charge Aman Kumar Singh to visit the spot.In the presence of a magistrate, police excavated the ground behind the house and recovered the boy’s body.“A forensic team visited the spot on Friday and collected samples. Five persons have been detained and are being questioned. Investigation is under way,” SDPO Oraon said.Among those detained are Paharpur resident Jagdish Das, his wife and daughter. Police are probing their alleged role in the incident.According to Mithun’s family members, he was allegedly in a relationship with the couple’s daughter for nearly a year. They claimed that the girl had called him to Paharpur on Sunday, following which he entered the house and did not return. When Mithun failed to reach home, his family began looking for him. His father reportedly visited Paharpur on Wednesday but could not find any clue. The search intensified on Thursday after the severed leg was spotted, prompting police to inspect the premises.Investigators suspect that parts of the body may have been dragged out by stray animals. Locals also complained of a foul smell from the area over the past few days. Police are also examining reports of bloodstains inside the house.Preliminary findings indicated that the murder may have been linked to a relationship-related dispute. However, police said all angles are being investigated and the exact sequence of events is yet to be ascertained.
