Ramgarh: A day after two brothers died under mysterious circumstances in Ramgarh district, their mother succumbed during treatment at Rims, Ranchi, on Friday. The deceased were identified as Sarita Devi, 36, and her sons Ramkishun Bediya, 15, a Class IX student, and Sahil Bediya, 10, who studied in Class V. The family lived in Sudi village under Patratu block. The boys died on Thursday after their health deteriorated suddenly. Sarita, who was also critically ill, was referred to Rims, where she died on Friday.Villagers claimed the family had consulted a local healer a few days earlier instead of seeking medical treatment. They said the brothers’ condition worsened rapidly and they died within minutes of each other before medical assistance could be arranged.Ramgarh civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said the cause of the deaths had not yet been established.“It does not appear to be a case of swine flu, as the deterioration was sudden. A medical team visited the village on Friday and suspects food poisoning, but a final conclusion can be reached only after further investigation,” he said.Health officials urged villagers not to depend on superstition or traditional healers when someone falls ill and advised them to immediately approach the nearest health centre or hospital.
