Kolkata: Julien Day School, Kolkata, hosted the second edition of their Grace Julien Memorial Inter-School Science Quiz Competition 2026, in memory of the school’s founder, Grace Julien, on Aug 25.The event brought together teams from 14 prominent schools across the city to test their knowledge of science, current affairs, and analytical thinking. Sheila Evelyn Broughton, managing trustee, inaugurated the event, which was followed by the principal’s address on the importance of quiz. After the preliminary round, eight schools qualified for the final round and Julien Day School, Kolkata, was one among the qualifiers. South City International School emerged as the champion with 150 points, followed by Julien Day School, Ganganagar, with 140 points and La Martiniere for Boys with 130 points. Terrence John, director of education and development, said, “There are quiz competitions around the state, but a specific science quiz is rare.”Principal Siddhartha Dey said, “The objective of the quiz is to go beyond textbook and nurture scientific curiosity and analytical thinking among students.”Mrinal Maity, a senior science teacher of the host school, said that the ‘Tech Experiments’ round was most difficult.
