Patna: Begusarai has been named the BestPerformingModelDistrict under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in the category of districts with a population of over five lakh.The award was presented at ArogyaManthan2026, organised by the National Health Authority (NHA) at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi to mark eight years of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and five years of ABDM. Union health minister J P Nadda presented the award to Bihar health department special secretary-cum-Bihar Swasthya Suraksha Samiti (BSSS) CEO Arvind Kumar Verma.The recognition comes for Begusarai’s effective implementation and expansion of various ABDM components. The mission aims to strengthen the digital health ecosystem by linking healthcare institutions and professionals to digital platforms and improving citizens’ access to digital health services.“The state govt, through BSSS, has been working to strengthen digital health infrastructure and expand the adoption of ABDM components across the state,” an official statement from the health department said.Officials said efforts have focused on integrating healthcare institutions and personnel into the digital health ecosystem while improving access to technology-enabled healthcare services.The award was attributed to the coordinated efforts of the Begusarai district administration, the district ABDM team, healthcare institutions, health workers and other stakeholders involved in implementing the mission.
