Patna: Patna: Samastipur police on Friday arrested a man after a video allegedly showing a young woman being harassed by a group of men went viral on social media on Thursday evening. However, police said the incident took place on Aug 14, 2025. The arrested accused, identified as Dharmendra Sahni of Latbasepura village under Musrigharari police station, was taken into custody following an investigation.Samastipur SP Arvind Pratap Singh said four suspects had been identified and further legal action was underway. “The video came to police notice during routine social media monitoring on Sept 24. Technical verification confirmed that the footage was recorded on the road leading to Morvon village in the Musrigharari police station area,” he said.According to police, the 52-second video shows a young man and a woman travelling on a scooter being surrounded by a group of men. The woman is seen pleading with them to let them go, saying the youth accompanying her was her brother’s friend and like a brother to her.The men allegedly questioned the duo and threatened to make their video viral. One of them is heard saying they would first get the two married and then call their guardians. When the young man objected, one of the men allegedly struck him with an umbrella.As the woman appeared to be a minor and her identity could not be immediately established, Musrigharari police registered an FIR on Thursday night under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Pocso Act and the Information Technology Act.Police appealed to the public not to circulate the video or share any content that could reveal the victim’s identity, warning that doing so could invite legal action.
