Dumka: Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU) has intensified preparations for its convocation ceremony on November 5 after the governor’s secretariat directed the university to hold the event on the scheduled date.The university administration has started making the necessary arrangements for the ceremony, where degrees will be conferred on students of various postgraduate and professional courses.SKMU Director of Public Relations (PRO) Dr Rajiv Ranjan Sinha said the directive from the governor’s secretariat came after letters were earlier sent by the university’s registrar and controller of examinations regarding the convocation.“After receiving the directive, the university administration has swung into action and started preparations to ensure that the convocation is conducted smoothly and in a dignified manner,” Sinha said.As part of the preparations, a meeting was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Dr Kunul Kandir. Registrar Dr Abdus Sattar coordinated the meeting, which approved the formation of committees to handle different responsibilities linked to the ceremony.The meeting also reviewed arrangements needed for the smooth conduct of the event. Degrees will be awarded to students of postgraduate courses in arts, science and commerce, as well as professional programmes including MBA, MCA and MBBS, among others.The administration is expected to assign specific responsibilities to the committees in the coming days as preparations gather pace. Officials said the focus is on timely coordination, protocol and orderly overall degree distribution.
