Road blocked in Chatra after man dies in bike accident
The blockade disrupted traffic for some time, with vehicles forming queues on both sides of the road

Hazaribag: Family members and locals blocked Mahavir Chowk in Pratappur block of Chatra district on Sunday, placing the body of 30-year-old Somar Bharti on the road to demand an investigation and compensation following his death in a motorcycle accident.The blockade disrupted traffic for some time, with vehicles forming queues on both sides of the road. Police and administrative officials reached the spot and held talks with the protesters.According to Bharti’s family, a large quantity of gravel had been dumped and left unattended on a road in the Lipta-Kubdi-Brahman area under Pratappur police station. They alleged that Bharti lost control of his motorcycle after coming into contact with the gravel and suffered serious injuries.He was given initial treatment and later shifted to a private hospital in Patna, where he died on Saturday evening, the family said.The family alleged that no action had been taken against those responsible for leaving the gravel on the road. They demanded a fair investigation, legal action against Mithilesh Giri — whom they accused of dumping the gravel — and compensation and assistance for Bharti’s family.Pratappur police station officer in-charge Alok Ranjan Chaudhary reached the site with police personnel. Circle inspector Kailash Kumar, circle office nazir Md Junaid and other officials were also present.Bharti Samaj district president Umesh Bharti appealed to the protesters to lift the blockade and assured them of assistance. Chaudhary said the allegations would be investigated and that legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible.
