Ranchi Tribal Girls Get Free Paramedical Training Institute for Job Readiness

Ranchi: The tribal welfare department will soon build an institute in the city to offer free skill-based courses to tribal girls. The proposed institute will focus mainly on paramedical education and is aimed at making students job-ready in different healthcare service fields.Minister for ST, SC, minority and backward class welfare Chamra Linda said the govt wants to provide professional training to tribal girls and improve their chances of employment. He said, “Tribal girls, for example, will learn how to apply plasters on fractures or get a diploma in radiology.”Officials said that paramedical courses are job-oriented programmes linked to diagnostic, therapeutic and technical services. Tribal girls who have passed Class 12 with a science background will be eligible for admission. Sources said that students may also get opportunities to study related professional courses.The project will also include institutes for BSc Nursing and ITI courses. Land has already been identified in the city, and the campus is likely to be built on around 1-2 acres. The institute along with hostel facilities is expected to accommodate about 200-300 students.The minister said the project is meant for the welfare of SC, ST and backward class girls who often do not get access to such education near their homes. For the project, the Centre will be providing grants for the welfare of tribals and development in tribal areas. Around Rs 26 crore has been proposed and sanctioned for the academic buildings, hostels, training centres and basic infrastructure.“All facilities from books to food and hostels will be free for the tribal girls,” Linda said.
