Jharkhand High Court Slams Bokaro Police Over Missing Minor Case, CBI Threat Looms

Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Friday pulled up Bokaro police yet again for its lapses in tracing minor girl missing since 2020. The court cautioned the govt that the case can be handed over to the CBI along with the state agencies is no fruitful outcome is achieved.A division bench of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Sanjay Prasad in course of the hearing observed that the Bokaro police seems to be “empty handed” when it comes to tracing out victims who have been missing from the district. The court also said that the former and present SP and DSP are not paying attention in the investigation being conducted by junior police officers.Speaking on the present case, the court after going through the records observed that the police accepts that the incident can be of kidnapping, but the investigation doesn’t seem to proceed in that direction. The FIR in the case was registered in 2020 and yet when no progress was made by the Bokaro police to recover the victim, the investigation was handed over to the CID in April this year by the govt. The court going through the case diary presented by the CID said that the investigation is not going in the right direction. The case before the HC was filed on May 7 by mother of girl, who has been missing since October 16, 2020.
