Patna: A man seeking a gardener’s job at AIIMS-Patna through an outsourcing agency has alleged that Rs2.50 lakh was demanded from him to secure the post. He also claimed that a recommendation letter issued by an MP in his favour was taken and torn, after which he was allegedly abused with casteist slurs and assaulted at a public place.Ratan Kumar Rajak, submitted a written complaint at Phulwarisharif police station in this regard. Copies of complaint were also sent to the SC/ST police station in Patna and senior police officers. Police confirmed receiving the complaint and said the allegations were being verified.According to Rajak, he was seeking employment through a outsourcing agency. An MP had issued a recommendation letter addressed to the director of AIIMS-Patna on Aug 19, 2026, regarding his employment request, he claimed.Rajak said he reached AIIMS-Patna around 6.30pm on Sept 11 taking the MP’s letter and his application for the gardener’s job. He alleged that a person associated with the AIIMS-Patna office later called him to a temple in the institute’s residential area in Phulwarisharif for a discussion.He claimed the person took his recommendation letter and job application and tore them up. He further alleged that he was told to pay Rs2.50 lakh for the job and that his employment would not be facilitated otherwise. When he protested, he alleged, he was subjected to caste-based abuses and assaulted.AIIMS public relations officer Asim Mishra rejected the allegations as false and baseless. He denied that the MP’s letter was torn and told this newspaper on Saturday that it was still in the office.Phulwarisharif SHO Ghulam Shahbaz Alam said police were investigating and would act according to law after consulting senior officials.
